Idea : snack / activity !

Fishing for Goldfish

I got this one from my sister in law ... it is a good one !!

Put some Goldfish crackers on a plate (fish in the pond)

Put some P.B. in a little bowl (bait aka worms)

Put a few pretzel sticks beside the plate (fishing poles)

So take a rod (pretzel) dip it in the bait (PB) and go fishing for Goldfish !!

Snack is now an activity !!

happy snacking ...

Recipe: Fresh Salsa

I love fresh salsa !! I particularly love my fresh salsa ... so today I will share my not so secret recipe with you. I make a bunch when I do. I am feeding 5 family members and 5 daycare children so I like to make 2 meals worth each time. You can cut the recipe in half if you like. I find that it is yummy the next day, but after that not so much.

What you need:

4 tomatoes finely chopped (I used 2 red, and 2 yellow tomatoes for this batch but I use all kinds of tomatoes ... whatever looks beautiful)

1 cup finely chopped cilantro

1 cup finely chopped parsley

1 large avocado cut into small pieces

juice of 2 limes

finely chopped onion, about 2 -3 tablespoons (now again you can use the onions of your choice. Today I used long green, but I also use red onions, or vidalia as well depending on what you are in the mood for.)

2 cloves of garlic (cloves... not heads !! Don't laugh someone did that once with one of recipes and told me it was yucky !! lol)

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 can of well rinsed black beans (you may be a good person who does their own beans, but I have never had luck with them . )

salt to taste

if kiddies are not eating this you may want to add jalapenos to the mix **yummy**

So ..... mix well and serve.

I eat this with multi grain chips, or use it for my nacho salsa, or in tacos or fajitas (this way you don't need onions or tomatoes... the salsa has both !) It is great over chicken or steak as well.

Let me know if you try this salsa and what you think of it. The children loved it !! ( well not Becca and Justin... but the rest of them. lol)
Happy eating ....

A while ago I posted a blog about home made bathroom or kitchen wipes and I promised to give my baby wipe recipe too ..... well here it is !!

A wipe box

enough cloths to fill it (about 20 )

2 tablespoons of Dr Bronner's baby soap

2 tablespoons of oil ( I like sunflower, grape seed, or for added softness olive)

2 cups of water (tap water is fine)

That's all folks. So just mix up the wet stuff and pour over the wipes. These wipes are AMAZING !!!! they are soapy (not too soapy though) so they really clean the bum or face or hands, and they have oil in them so they really slip off the sticky stuff, and protect the skin too. The best (well at least the cheapest) cloths are 4 for a dollar, at Dollarama. They are thin and grabby !!

I buy my soap at American Apparel. It is 1/2 the price there. For the 36 oz bottle it is only $14.95 !! Everywhere else it is $26 + !!

Wipes are expensive, hand made wipes are easy to make, better for baby & cheaper. What's not to love? All my babes are cloth diapered so it is even easier to put the colth in the diaper and wash everything. Picking poopy wipes out of a dirty diaper is no fun !!

I keep a wet bag by my diaper station and just put them in as I use them.

I hope you try some hand made cloth wipes to go with your CD's !!
Happy diapering :)
